How good the estimate is
Before Octopus publishes tomorrow's prices, the site shows its own estimate, marked as such. Every morning it records the estimate for the next three days in every region, and scores it once the real prices are out.
Over the last 88 days, the estimate for the next day was out by 4.9p/kWh in a typical half hour, and the cheapest 3½ hours it picked cost 1.1p/kWh more than the real cheapest. Two days ahead, it was out by 6.4p.
